Burials At Sea

The sea brings back memories of all that is beautiful during our lives: warmth, relaxation, joy, sunshine, family outings, our youth, the beach, and much more.

Scattering the ashes at sea is a return to one's origins. It's been calculated that in every human being there is an atom from everyone who has ever lived. Indeed, we are all one big family since the dawn of mankind. The sea washes every continent on earth, so it only seems natural to take our loved ones back home, back to their origins. A funeral at sea is more like a rebirth, returning to the ocean from where we originated. When we reflect on the number of times we are next to a body of water, it provides continuous opportunities to remember our loved ones. Compare that to the number of times we visit a cemetery or a stone memorial.

These excursions go out on our 50 foot flagship vessel, The Island Pearl. You are welcome to bring food and beverages. We have a large table on which these items can be placed and a cooler with ice for drinks. There is a space by the captain's station to put pictures and other memorial items. There is a swim-platform at the stern (back of the boat) where the ashes are scattered. You will be accompanied by one of our crew members to make sure it is done safely. We also have bluetooth capability on the boat so that you may choose a playlist from your phone and connect. We also provide an informal certificate with the latitude and longitude coordinates where the ashes were released.

We depart from Anna Maria Island at the Bradenton Beach Marina and head south through Longboat Key Pass and out into the Gulf of Mexico to appease Coast Guard/EPA regulations. Approximate roundtrip excursion time is one hour and a half.
